About the On-Demand Course:

This course is entirely online, including the exam, and designed so that the student can begin the course when they wish, and progress through the course materials at their own pace. Within 24 hours of registration, students will be provided with access to our proprietary online learning platform, where they will be able to access:

This course is created for the student seeking an entirely self-directed approach. Those who wish to have instructor interaction can register for additional tutoring through our website, or should consider the scheduled Instructor-Led Online course instead.

Students may also choose to register for this On-Demand course with the a Wine Tasting Kit, which includes a 6 wine tasting kit (187mL bottles) containing all of the wines referenced throughout the course.

Once the course has been completed, students are able to schedule the online exam through Commonwealth Wealth Wine School for a date and time of their choice, in order to achieve the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines certification

About Level 1

The WSET Level 1 course offers a true beginner’s overview of wine, and is geared to anyone with an interest in wine for personal enjoyment or launching a professional career. It’s a particularly good starting point for people just beginning to work in restaurants, hospitality, or retail. Level 1 is a fun way to get up to speed on what wine is and how it differs by style.

The Level 1 course provides a systematized way of learning about and tasting wine, focusing on knowledge that is practical, hands-on, and designed to build a foundation for future exploration. The course will introduce you to basics of wine, broad different styles, simple storage and service rules, and easy techniques for pairing wine with a range of foods.

How does the Online Course work?

The course material should take about six hours in total to complete, plus revision time, and self-led access and participation in online course materials is essential for this mode of study.

Students are able to contact the course tutor at any time during their studies, should they have any questions.

Each module includes a series of independent activities to help you understand the differences between grape varieties and types and styles of wine.

At the end of the course, you’ll complete a short, multiple-choice exam (available online on a date and time of your choosing), and upon passing, will receive a Digital Level 1 WSET certificate and Digital Badge.

Wine Tasting:

When students choose the “With Tasting Kit” option they will receive a code for a free Wine Tasting Kit consisting of 6 187mL bottles through Master the World. This kit contains all of the wines that are referenced during this on-demand course.

If students choose the “Without Tasting Kit” option they will receive a list of recommended wines to purchase for themselves to use during their on-demand studies.
