About Level 1:
A beginner level sake class for people working in a career in the beverage industry or anyone who has an interest to learn about sake. This qualification offers an exploration around the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to understand the key factors affecting flavors and aromas. Upon successful completion of a short exam you will receive a Digital Level 1 WSET certificate and Digital Badge

How to serve sake
Factors affecting the flavor of sake
How to taste describe sake using WSET’s Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake®
The course will be based around a four-week, nine module online learning program with educator support available during this time. The course material should take about six hours in total to complete, plus revision time.
The course prepares the student for the Level 1 Sake qualification and they are guided by our WSET Sake educator. The student can contact the educator any time for the duration of the scheduled course, should they have any questions. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help students understand sake production and different styles of sake.
Students are advised to taste a range of sakes during their studies. All the required sakes for the course can be found the Specification. In addition, the student will be able to review sake tasting with the instructor during the Live Online Meeting.
