UNIT D5: FORTIFIED WINES
This unit covers how grape growing, winemaking, maturation, wine law and wine business influence the style, quality and price of the principal fortified wines of the world. Ranges cover Australia, France, Spain, and Portugal. Students learn to demonstrate the ability to taste and evaluate fortified wines accurately. Assessment is a 90-minute exam combining blind tasting and short answers.
Our WSET Level 4 Diploma D5: Fortified Wines (Online) course is a 6-week, instructor-led program designed to build advanced theory and tasting skills while keeping you laser-focused on exam success. With two included Live Online Meetings you’ll practice structured tasting and targeted theory exercises, work through exam strategies alongside the instructor on current issues shaping key fortified wine regions today. In addition to the live online meetings, you’ll study at your own pace on our platform with on-demand lectures, interactive quizzes, and guided assignments—plus personal support from the assigned expert instructor. Every student also receives full access to the corresponding Wine with Jimmy unit for additional recorded content, flashcards, and practice tests.

The Optional In-Person Tasting and Theory workshop will include 12 wines focusing on comparative and exam-style tasting flights and a practice theory exam
Cost for the Unit is $995 for Online study and $1295 for a combination of Online and Traditional classroom study.
