Commonwealth Wine School has partnered with Empty Bottle Tours to bring you the ultimate exploration of the wines of the Piemonte with Master of Wine, Mark Pygott. Join us for 5 days during the harvest as we immerse ourselves in the Piedmont’s unique terroir and top producers.
Guided instruction throughout with Mark Pygott, MW and Italian Wine Expert with support from Jessica Sculley, DipWSET, Director of Commonwealth Wine School.

Arrival at Hotel Calissano

Dinner – Ventuno.1 (Michelin listed), Alba
DAY 2: Monday, September 30 – Alto Piemonte
Bus departs from the hotel at 08.45 for Gattinara and Lessona in Piemonte Alto
Morning– Antoniolo (Gattinara)
Lunch – Osteria Contemporanea (Michelin listed), Gattinara
Afternoon – Proprietà Sperino (Lessona)
Dinner – Guests are free to explore on their own
DAY 3: Tuesday, October 1 - Barbaresco
Morning free
Lunch – La Ciau del Tornavento (one Michelin star), Treiso
Afternoon – Two Barbaresco Estates
Dinner - Guests are free to be on their own (but we will arrange to be at one of two places if people want to eat together).
DAY 4: Wednesday, October 2- Barolo
Bus departs from the hotel for the first of three Estates in Barolo (selected from: Fenocchio, Burlotto, Giacomo Conterno, Livia Fontana, Famiglia Anselma, Varja)
Lunch – Gennaro Di Pace (Michelin listed), Monforte d’Alba
Afternoon – Two Barolo Estates
Dinner – Enoclub (Michelin listed), Alba
DAY 5: Thursday, October 3 – Monferrato & Asti
Bus departs from the hotel
Monferrato (selected from Braida, Olim Bauda, Michele Chiarlo)
Lunch – Violetta (Michelin listed), Calamandrana
Afternoon – Monferrato Estate visit and Moscato d’Asti specialist visit (selected from Ca d’Gal, Paolo Saracco)
Dinner – An Estate Dinner
DAY 6: Friday, October 4 - Dogliani
Check out from hotel for Dogliani (Selected from Marziano Abbona, Chionetti, Poderi Luigi Einaudi)
Lunch – Osteria Veglio (Michelin listed), La Morra
Bus departs from Osteria Veglio at approximately 14.30, arriving back at the hotel by 15.00
If there are guests who want to extend their visit (either pre or post the five nights included in this booking), then we can help organize this, but payment will be made to the hotel directly.
*Price based on double occupancy. There will be a charge of $450 for any guest who wishes to have a single Classic Room, OR $550 for any guest who wishes to have a Single Superior Room.

ASSUMPTIONS:
All wine estates and restaurants listed in this Itinerary are subject to availability, and will be confirmed once the Booking Form and Terms and Conditions have been returned with deposit for the selected dates.
Availability of requested wine estates and proposed restaurants have not been confirmed.
PAYMENT DETAILS:
Cost: $6495* for a Superior Room OR $6195 for a Classic Room
Occupancy:
*This rate is based on double occupancy
*There will be a single supplement applied of $450 for those not sharing a Classic Room OR $550 for those not sharing a Superior Room.
Deposit:
$750 is due at the time of booking a Classic Room. $850 is due at the time of booking a Superior Room.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the Total Tour Cost due by March 29th, 2024.
Final Payment:
The balance (based on double occupancy) is due 60 days prior to the tour, or your reservation will be released and the cancellation penalty will be applied.
CANCELLATION FEES:
Should you or any member of your party have to cancel their booking once it has been confirmed, a written notice of cancellation must be given. The effective date for cancellation is the date when we receive a written notice. Cancellation charges will apply and are detailed as follows:
Where one or more participants cancel their participation less than 16 weeks prior to the start date but more than 2 weeks from the start date, they will be liable to a cancellation fee of 50%.
Less than 2 weeks to the start date, the fee will rise to 100%.
Any increase in price payable as a result of part cancellation and/or sole occupancy, will be indicated on a revised confirmation invoice.
