Deborah Hansen
Deborah Hansen, a graduate of Bates College and New York University, received her sommeliere title in Madrid, Spain and Sherry Master Certification in Jerez, Spain. She is now the owner-consultant of Wine Matters, LLC. A devoted professional and champion of Spanish wine, she was the owner, chef, & sommeliere of Taberna de Haro in Brookline, MA from 1998 to 2024. During her tenure, the award-winning wine list offered over 300 wines from Spain, including 90+ sherries, making it the second largest all-Spanish wine list in the USA, and the second largest Sherry list in the world. A Semifinalist for a James Beard Award in 2018, Hansen finds enormous pleasure in teaching about wine, from large classrooms such as Boston University to small venues such as restaurants, and many more in between.
Her new company, Wine Matters, specializes in education, translation, curation, and degustation for professionals and consumers alike.
